Kowhai Park

Kowhai park is an area just off Warkworth. It is a short walk put together by a group of volunteers, and it is perfect for a break when you're on your way heading north or even just a break from the city scenery.

Accessibility: Center of Warkworth begins in the carpark. Cellphone service throughout the walk.

The track begins at Kowhai Park carpark where there are a couple of small loops available for the public to walk. At the beginning of the loops are some original lime kilns with signs retelling the stories behind the carpark. The track continues for a further 10 minutes before encountering a patch of newly planted plants, thanks to the volunteers. This track features numerous signs pointing out and naming New Zealand native plants and trees. After you have completed the short walk you can venture across the road to the buzzing community of Warkworth where you will find multiple shops and cafes special to Warkworth.
