Where: Warkworth - Matakana Rd

Time taken to walk: 45 min

Special Features: Original Lime Kilns with signs to re-tell the history.

Accessibility: Center of Warkworth begins in the carpark. Cellphone service throughout the walk.

Skill Required: Beginner

Dog Friendly: Dogs may come but must remain on leads to protect native Kauri

Step Count: 4800 steps

Distance:

The track begins at Kowhai Park carpark where there are a couple of small loops available for the public to walk. At the beginning of the loops are some original lime kilns with signs retelling the stories behind the carpark. The track continues for a further 10 minutes before encountering a patch of newly planted plants, thanks to the volunteers. This track features numerous signs pointing out and naming New Zealand native plants and trees. After you have completed the short walk you can venture across the road to the buzzing community of Warkworth where you will find multiple shops and cafes special to Warkworth.
